Video Production FAQ
Real answers about hiring a video production company — costs, timelines, what’s included, and how a shoot actually works. Crossroad Media is a Surrey-based production company with 10+ years of experience filming commercials, corporate video, and events across Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. These are the questions clients ask us before they book. If yours isn’t here, just ask.
Commercial & Corporate Video
Cost & Scope
How much does a corporate video cost?
Most Crossroad Media video productions fall between $3,000 and $20,000. The range is wide because video projects are wide: a focused, single-location interview piece with a small crew sits near the lower end, while a multi-day branded production with professional actors, several locations, and drone aerials climbs toward the upper end. The factors that move the number are concrete: how many filming days you need, how many locations we’re moving between, whether we’re casting talent, how much motion graphics and animation the edit calls for, and how many finished deliverables you want — one hero film, or a full set of cutdowns for web, social, and paid advertising. The smartest way to budget is to work backwards from what the video needs to do. A video that supports a product launch, an investment presentation, or a recruitment push carries more weight — and deserves more production — than a quick internal update. The budget should reflect the role the video plays in your business, and we’ll always tell you when a smaller production would honestly do the job. Every quote is built individually from your actual needs — concept, filming days, locations, and editing complexity — rather than forcing your project into a generic package that doesn’t quite fit. We’ve spent over a decade producing for businesses across Vancouver, Surrey, and the Lower Mainland, so we can scope quickly and accurately. Tell us what you’re trying to achieve, and we’ll give you a clear, honest number — no padding, no surprise line items. You can also see how most clients start on our Packages page.
How much does a testimonial video cost?
Testimonial videos usually sit toward the lower end of our $3,000–$20,000 production range — they typically need one well-planned filming session, real customers instead of actors, and clean, focused editing. If we film several testimonials in a single day, the cost per video drops further, which is why many clients batch two or three customer stories into one session. They’re also consistently the highest-converting content a business can own: a real customer explaining, in their own words, why they chose you will outsell any script we could write. Most testimonial projects include interview preparation, on-location filming, b-roll of your product or service in action, and a polished edit with captions ready for your website and social channels. Tell us who your happiest customers are and we’ll scope a testimonial package for your situation — get in touch.
How much does a promotional video cost?
Promotional videos span the full breadth of our $3,000–$20,000 range, because creative ambition varies more here than anywhere else: length, locations, talent, motion graphics, and how much of the story already exists versus what we create from scratch. A punchy single-location promo with motion graphics lands near the lower end; a cinematic multi-location piece with actors and drone aerials moves up the scale. When we scope a promo, we tell you up front what your budget can realistically deliver — and where each extra dollar visibly shows up on screen. And if budget is the main constraint, ask us about AI production as well: for some promotional concepts, our AI commercial work ($1,500–$5,000) achieves the same goal at a fraction of the cost.
What’s Included
What is included in your video production services?
Everything from idea to final file: pre-production (concept development, scripting, talent acquisition), production (professional film crew and drone aerials), and post-production (editing, motion graphics, colour grading, and sound design). You can hire us for the full journey or just the stages you need.
Do you provide scripting?
Yes — scripting is part of our pre-production service. We develop concepts, write scripts, and build storyboards tailored to your brand and goals. You approve everything before a camera rolls.
Do you help with interview questions?
Yes — and it matters more than people think. We prepare interview questions designed to pull out natural, usable answers, and we coach your people on camera so they sound like themselves, not like a press release. The best soundbites are made by good questions.
Do you provide voiceovers?
Yes — professional voiceover is part of our post-production toolkit, in the style and tone your project needs.
Do you provide drone footage?
Yes — drone aerials are one of our signature services, and all of our drone work is Transport Canada certified. Few things elevate a corporate or commercial video like a cinematic aerial shot of your location, site, or city — and certification means it’s captured legally and safely, with the paperwork to prove it.
Do you provide actors?
Yes — talent acquisition is part of our pre-production service. We source and coordinate professional actors and presenters suited to your concept, your audience, and your budget.
Do you provide music licensing?
Yes — every track in your video is properly licensed for commercial use. No copyright strikes, no takedowns, no awkward calls from a label.
Can you help with creative concepts?
That’s where we’re strongest. Most clients come to us with a goal, not a finished idea — we develop the concept, the angle, and the story that gets you there. Every brand has a story; helping you tell yours is the whole job.
Filming & Logistics
Do you travel for productions?
Yes. We’re based in Surrey and film across Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, the whole Lower Mainland, up the Sea-to-Sky corridor to Squamish and Whistler, out to Abbotsford, and over to Victoria. For the right project, we’ll go further — ask.
Do you film outside Vancouver?
All the time. Vancouver is where most of our work happens, but our service area runs from Whistler to Abbotsford and includes Vancouver Island. Travel within the Lower Mainland is simply part of the job.
How many filming days are required?
Most corporate and testimonial projects need just one well-planned filming day — good pre-production is what makes that possible. Larger commercial productions with multiple locations or actors may need two or more. We’ll tell you exactly what your project requires when we scope it.
How long should a company video be?
Shorter than most companies want, longer than a social clip. For a main company or brand video, 60–90 seconds is the sweet spot — long enough to tell a story, short enough that people finish it. Testimonials work well at 1–2 minutes. And from any of those, we can cut 15–30 second versions for ads and social.
How long does a typical project take?
A typical corporate project runs a few weeks from kickoff to final delivery: pre-production and scheduling, the filming day(s), then editing, revisions, and polish. Need it faster for a launch or event? Tell us the deadline — rush timelines are often possible with planning.
Event & Conference Coverage
Do you film conferences and corporate events?
Yes — event coverage is one of our core services. We film conferences, galas, product launches, and corporate events across Vancouver and the Lower Mainland, with packages built around your agenda: half-day coverage, full conference days, or multi-day events. You get a crew that knows how to capture the energy of a live room without getting in the way of it.
How much does conference videography cost?
A single-day conference package with filming and editing typically runs between $1,500 and $5,000, depending on the hours of coverage and the deliverables you need. Multi-day conferences scale from there — our packages are priced by the number of days of coverage. Send us your event agenda and we’ll quote it precisely — get in touch.
How quickly can we get our event recap video?
As fast as 24 hours after the event. A next-day recap lands while the buzz is still alive — attendees share it, sponsors love it, and the people who missed it get instant motivation to register next year. If you want a highlight package across multiple formats, we’ll build the delivery schedule around your marketing plan.
What do you deliver from an event shoot?
A polished recap video is the centrepiece, and around it we can deliver vertical cutdowns for Reels and Shorts, photos for your social channels and website, and longer edits of key moments. Tell us where the content needs to live and we’ll shoot the day with those deliverables in mind.
Do you cover multi-day conferences?
Yes — multi-day coverage is simply a matter of scaling the package to your schedule. We map coverage to your agenda: keynotes, panels, networking moments, sponsor activations, and the in-between energy that makes a recap feel alive. If you’d like a recap for each day of the event, we can plan for that too.
Revisions & Delivery
How many revisions are included?
Every project includes three rounds of revisions, spelled out in the contract we sign with every client — so expectations are clear before production starts, and there are never billing surprises. You see the edit at set checkpoints and shape it before final delivery; most projects land on the final cut within those three rounds.
What video formats do you deliver?
Whatever your channels need: widescreen for web and TV, vertical for Reels and Shorts, square for feeds, plus any specific specs your media buyer or broadcaster requires. One production, every format.
Do you provide subtitles and captions?
Yes — captions are essential, since most social video gets watched on mute. We deliver captioned versions ready for every platform, styled to stay readable and on-brand.
Can you create videos for social media?
Yes — social-first content is a core part of what we do, from monthly content packages to cutting your hero video into a month’s worth of posts. See the Monthly Content section below for how that service works.
Can you repurpose long videos into short-form content?
Absolutely — it’s one of the smartest investments you can make. One strong interview or brand film can become a dozen short clips for Instagram and LinkedIn. If you have existing footage sitting unused, we can mine that too.
The Stories We Tell
Can you film customer testimonials?
Yes — testimonials are one of our most requested services, and we’ve refined how to make them feel real: thoughtful interview questions, relaxed direction, and editing that keeps the human moments in. Real customers saying real things outperform any script.
Can you help us tell our company story?
Every brand has a story — let us help you tell yours. That sentence has been on our website for years because it’s the heart of what we do: finding the angle that makes people care about your company, then crafting it into film.
What industries do you work with?
Over a decade we’ve filmed for tourism, sports, charities, manufacturers, tech companies, hospitality, real estate, professional services, and events — including work for national brands and broadcasters. Different industries, same goal: content that generates results.
Monthly Content Creation
The Package
What is a monthly content package?
A monthly content package keeps your brand consistently visible without you having to think about it. Each month we plan, film, and edit a batch of professional videos built for your social channels — a steady stream of content instead of one expensive video that has to last a year.
How many videos do I receive each month?
Our monthly content packages run from about $1,500 to $5,000 per month depending on your needs, and typically deliver between 20 and 30 reels each month. We build every monthly plan around your goals and budget — one efficient filming session produces a surprising amount of content, so your channels stay consistently fed.
How often do we film?
Typically once or twice a month, in efficient batch sessions. We plan each shoot in advance so every minute on camera turns into usable content.
How much content can be created in one filming day?
More than most people expect. With a planned shot list, one filming day routinely produces a full month of short-form content — multiple talking-point videos, b-roll for weeks of posts, and material we can keep recutting later. Planning is the multiplier.
How quickly will videos be delivered?
Monthly content runs on a steady rhythm: film, edit, deliver, post — repeat. Your content calendar is planned ahead, so videos are ready when they’re scheduled to go out, not scrambled together the night before.
Can content be scheduled in advance?
Yes — that’s the entire advantage. We plan your content calendar weeks ahead, batch the filming, and deliver videos ready to post on schedule. Your marketing stops living day-to-day.
Platforms
Can you manage my social media accounts?
Yes — through our content partnership with Digital Trek. We handle the strategy, filming, editing, and captions; our social media management partner handles the uploading, scheduling, and day-to-day account management. One pipeline, fully handled — you approve the content, and we take care of the rest.
Do you write captions and descriptions?
Yes — each video comes with platform-ready captions and descriptions written to match your brand voice, so posting takes minutes, not meetings.
Can you create content for Instagram?
Yes — Reels, Stories, and feed posts, shot and edited vertical-first with captions on. Instagram is where most of our monthly content clients see the fastest growth.
Can you create LinkedIn videos?
Yes — thought-leadership clips, company updates, and culture content tuned to LinkedIn’s more professional audience. For B2B companies, it’s often the highest-value channel in the monthly mix.
You, On Camera
Do I need to be on camera?
Only if you want to be. Founder-led content performs brilliantly, but we also build monthly packages around your team, your customers, your product, and b-roll storytelling. There’s a content strategy for every comfort level.
Can you help me become more comfortable on camera?
Yes — this is half coaching, half filmmaking. Good interview questions, a relaxed set, and a few sessions of practice change everything; most clients stop noticing the camera by month two. Nobody is born good on camera — it’s a skill, and we teach it.
Can you edit content from footage we already have?
Yes — existing footage, phone clips, event recordings, old campaigns. We can cut, grade, caption, and repackage what you already own into fresh content. It’s often the cheapest month of content you’ll ever buy.
Is It Right for You?
What types of businesses benefit from monthly content creation?
Any business that needs to stay visible: local service businesses building trust, B2B companies nurturing long sales cycles, brands growing on Instagram, founders building a personal brand, and organizations that are tired of their social channels going quiet for months. If showing up consistently would grow your business, monthly content is the engine.
