The Full AI Workflow Breakdown

On July 1, a daredevil couple climbed through a maintenance hatch on the Empire State Building’s 103rd floor, scaled the antenna to 1,454 feet, unfurled a banner, got engaged, and got arrested. Within two days I rebuilt the entire news broadcast with AI, except my flag reads WELCOME TO @calsaistudio and the anchor discovers live on air that she is AI too. No permits, no helicopter, no arrests. This page is the exact recipe, including the 5 failed generations that taught me the method.

The workflow in one line: Claude writes and directs the prompts, Higgsfield generates the stills, the video and the voice, and I cut it in my editor. GPT Image 2 for the keyframes (it renders clean text, which is the whole trick here), Seedance 2.0 for the shots, ElevenLabs inside Higgsfield for the fake anchor, and the end cards rendered locally with my real brand fonts. Everything is labeled AI. That is literally the punchline of the video.

Download everything from this build. The full pack has the keyframes (including the start-and-end frame pair), the BREAKING NEWS chyron, the animated end cards, the fake anchor voiceover with the timing map, and the prompts, including the failed 12-second monolith so you can see exactly why per-shot wins. The skills zip is just the two Claude skills if that is all you want.

Stage 1: The Assets

This build has a rule the product ads don’t need: it has to pass as real broadcast footage. So every asset starts from the actual news coverage. I pulled real frames from the real helicopter footage as composition references (blur the channel graphics off them before use), and matched my keyframes to the real framing, the real distances, the real haze.

The climb keyframe

What it does: the cold open. Locked to the same distance and angle as the real footage’s climb frame.

AI keyframe: climbers at the peak of the Empire State antenna

The flag keyframe (where the text trick lives)

What it does: puts readable custom text into AI video, which is supposed to be impossible.

AI keyframe: the WELCOME TO @calsaistudio flag flying from the spire
AI video cannot spell, but it can preserve. You will never get clean lettering by asking a video model to write it. But GPT Image 2 renders text into a still just fine, and Seedance can HOLD lettering that already exists in a locked first frame. So the flag text lives in the keyframe, the video prompt only says “the lettering stays exactly as in the first frame, never blank, never scrambled,” in both languages. That is how a custom flag flies over Manhattan.

The laptop reveal: a START and END frame pair

What it does: forces the model to actually perform an action instead of posing.

Shot 3 start frame: pulling the laptop from the backpack
Shot 3 end frame: laptop up reading WE'RE NOT REAL, her wave

Left: the exact first frame. Right: the exact last frame, same camera. The model has to travel between them.

One image gives you a statue. Two images force motion. With only a start frame, Seedance happily parks your characters like mannequins for 5 seconds. Give it a start frame AND an end frame from the same camera, and it has no choice: the laptop has to come out of the backpack, the screen has to turn, the wave has to happen, all inside the clip’s runtime.

The broadcast dressing

Breaking news chyron overlay

A BREAKING NEWS chyron as a transparent overlay for the edit, and the fake anchor herself: an ElevenLabs voice (“Elena”) generated inside Higgsfield. Her script walks the whole arc, from real news read to the twist. Listen:

“…It says, Welcome to Cal’s AI Studio. Tom, is this an ad? Are we… are we the ad? I’m being told we are the ad. This is AI. All of it. Even me.”

The end cards

Animated end card, comment TOWER

Rendered locally with my actual brand fonts (pulled straight from this website), animated frame by frame in Python, never AI text. Two versions in the pack: COMMENT TOWER for Instagram, and a link version for every platform that allows links.

Stage 2: The Prompting Framework

Same engine as my Corona and Jack Daniel’s breakdowns: the Motion Design skill runs the flow, the Seedance Director skill writes production-ready bilingual prompts, and the base rules live on those pages. This build forged four new ones:

  1. One shot per generation. A 12-second multi-shot prompt means the model allocates time and pacing however it wants. It steals your edit. Five monolith attempts proved it.
  2. The keyframe goes in the START FRAME slot. Attached loosely as a reference, your image gets “resembled.” Locked as the first frame, it gets continued. That one uploader slot is the difference between close and exact.
  3. Describe camera speed as a rate, never a feeling. I wrote “slow, subtle drift” and Seedance heard slow motion on a locked tripod. The fix that worked: “the helicopter sweeps about a quarter of a circle around the tower during the shot.” A rate is measurable. A feeling is a coin flip.
  4. Realism is prompted twice. Film grain, video noise, handheld micro-jitter, wind in her hair: named in the Style block AND enforced in the constraints, in both languages, with the ban list spelled out: no slow motion, no freeze frames, no frozen poses, no mannequin stillness.

Stage 3: The Shots

The monolith that failed 5 times

The plan was one 12-second generation: climb, flag, twist, one prompt, three keyframes. I ran it 5 times at 108 credits a run, 540 credits total, and every take broke somewhere different. Slow motion nobody asked for. A flag unfurl that kept mangling. Pacing the model chose by itself. Two things ended the madness: shot 1 of one take was genuinely excellent (the model handles ONE shot from ONE keyframe well), and I went back and rewatched the real news footage: the real broadcast never shows the flag unfurling either. It cuts from the climb to the flag already flying. I had been prompting a beat my own reference never contained.

12s MONOLITH, FINAL ATTEMPT (FAILED, shot 1 salvaged)
MODEL: seedance_2_0  |  DURATION: 12s  |  RESOLUTION: 1080p  |  ASPECT RATIO: 9:16  |  BITRATE: high | AUDIO: on  |  REFERENCES: image_1 = kf1_v2_climb_peak, image_2 = kf2_v2_flag_lean, image_3 = kf3 laptop keyframe  |  VERDICT: FAILED as a whole (the model steals the edit) but shot 1, the climb, was salvaged from a monolith take.
<<<image_1>>> = the two climbers at the peak of the Empire State Building antenna, the man atop the small lattice cage pulling the woman up. <<<image_2>>> = the man leaning out from the mast with one extended arm while the woman holds the black flag with white block letters. <<<image_3>>> = on the octagonal maintenance platform, the man kneels holding an open laptop with its screen facing the camera reading WE'RE NOT REAL while the woman waves at the camera, flag flying above. Match the characters, wardrobe, spire structure, flag, laptop screen and all printed lettering EXACTLY as shown in these references. Style & Mood: Authentic breaking-news helicopter footage at real-time speed, energetic live-broadcast coverage. Telephoto compression, hazy summer afternoon over Manhattan, muted desaturated documentary grade, constant natural handheld vibration of a helicopter camera gimbal, micro-jitter and occasional small frame bumps. Photorealistic, no stylization. Narrative Summary: A news helicopter circles the Empire State Building spire in a fast continuous orbit while two masked climbers reach the top, unfurl a black flag, and reveal to the camera that the broadcast is AI. Dynamic Description: The helicopter camera orbits the spire continuously at a brisk energetic pace, sweeping about half a circle around the tower during each shot, subjects locked center frame while the city grid behind them streams sideways with strong visible parallax, the whole skyline wheeling behind the spire, and the frame carries constant subtle helicopter shake throughout. Opening on a medium arcing shot matching <<<image_1>>>: the man braced atop the small lattice cage at the antenna peak, rolled black flag strapped across his back, hauls the woman up by her hand, and she climbs fast, urgent hand-over-hand, swinging her leg up onto the cage rim and pushing up beside him, wind whipping their clothing, the defocused skyscraper facades sweeping past behind them. Hard cut to an extreme wide orbit matching <<<image_2>>>: the camera continues the same orbital direction in a fast wide pass around the full spire, the Manhattan grid and Hudson River wheeling behind the tower with maximum parallax, as the man leans boldly out from the mast on one fully extended arm and the woman holds the flag corner while the black flag snaps open taut in the wind, its white printed block lettering exactly as shown in <<<image_2>>>, clearly legible. Hard cut to a closer orbiting shot matching <<<image_3>>>: the camera keeps arcing briskly around the octagonal maintenance platform while pushing in, background buildings streaming past, as the man kneels on one knee and raises an open laptop, turning its screen to face the helicopter camera, the screen black with huge white block letters reading WE'RE NOT REAL exactly as in <<<image_3>>>, steady and legible, while the woman turns to the camera and gives a small calm wave directly at the viewer, both holding the camera's gaze as the flag ripples above them. The camera never stops moving, one continuous orbital direction across all three cuts, always with natural helicopter vibration. Real-time 1x playback speed throughout: no slow motion, no speed ramps, no freeze frames, no static shots, no locked-off tripod framing. The flag lettering and the laptop screen text stay exactly as in the references, undistorted, never blank, never scrambled. No other on-screen text, no captions, no logos, no subtitles. Static Description: The gray steel antenna spire of the Empire State Building exactly as in the references: latticed mast, small caged crow's-nest platform at the tip, wider octagonal grated maintenance platform below. One black fabric flag with white block lettering fixed to the mast. Hazy pale sky, endless city grid, rooftops and river fading into atmospheric haze. Audio: Diegetic sound only, heavy helicopter rotor thump, high-altitude wind gusts, flag snapping, distant muffled city traffic. Strictly no music, no score, no soundtrack, no singing.

The flag shot (final)

What it does: 5 seconds of a flag that reads WELCOME TO @calsaistudio, legible every frame.

SHOT 2, FLAG, FINAL (Seedance 2.0, 5s)
MODEL: seedance_2_0  |  DURATION: 5s  |  RESOLUTION: 1080p  |  ASPECT RATIO: 9:16  |  BITRATE: high | AUDIO: on  |  REFERENCE: kf2_flag_handle_lowercase.png attached as the START FRAME (first slot)  |  VERDICT: KEEPER. This is the shot in the finished video.
<<<image_1>>> = the exact FIRST FRAME of this shot: the man leaning out from the Empire State Building antenna mast on one fully extended arm, the woman holding the corner of the black flag with white block letters reading WELCOME TO @calsaistudio, the flag fully unfurled, hazy Manhattan far below. Style & Mood: Authentic breaking-news helicopter footage continuing directly from <<<image_1>>>. Heavy visible film grain and fine video noise, slightly soft zoomed-broadcast look, constant natural helicopter camera shake and micro-jitter, telephoto compression, muted desaturated news grade, hazy summer afternoon. Photorealistic, no stylization. Dynamic Description: Single continuous shot, no cuts, starting exactly at <<<image_1>>>. The news helicopter arcs around the spire at the steady confident pace of a real broadcast chopper, sweeping about a quarter of a circle over the full shot, the hazy Manhattan grid and Hudson River sliding smoothly sideways behind the tower with clear parallax, the two figures locked center frame. The black flag stays fully unfurled the entire shot, flying taut and snapping in the wind, its white printed lettering reading WELCOME TO @calsaistudio exactly as in <<<image_1>>>, clearly legible, never blank, never scrambled. The man holds his lean off the mast, the woman grips the flag corner, both making only small natural adjustments, clothing whipping in the high wind. Real-time 1x speed: no slow motion, no speed ramps, no freeze frames, no acceleration. No on-screen text, no captions, no logos. Static Description: The gray steel antenna spire of the Empire State Building exactly as in <<<image_1>>>: latticed mast, small caged platform at the tip, one black fabric flag with white block lettering fixed to the mast. Hazy pale sky, endless city grid, rooftops and river fading into atmospheric haze. Audio: Diegetic sound only, heavy helicopter rotor thump, high-altitude wind gusts, flag snapping. Strictly no music, no score, no singing.

The keyframe carries the lettering, the prompt carries the physics: quarter-circle orbit, parallax named explicitly, the ban list in both languages. When a 5-second shot misses, the re-roll costs 45 credits instead of 108, and it only risks one beat.

The laptop reveal (final)

What it does: the twist. Laptop out of the backpack, screen to camera, WE’RE NOT REAL, her wave.

SHOT 3, LAPTOP REVEAL, FINAL (Seedance 2.0, 5s, START+END frames)
MODEL: seedance_2_0  |  DURATION: 5s  |  RESOLUTION: 1080p  |  ASPECT RATIO: 9:16  |  BITRATE: high | AUDIO: on  |  REFERENCES: shot3_START_frame.png in the FIRST frame slot + shot3_END_frame.png in the LAST frame slot  |  VERDICT: KEEPER. The start-to-end pair is what forces real motion.
<<<image_1>>> = the exact FIRST FRAME: on the octagonal maintenance platform of the Empire State Building spire, the curly-haired man in the black face mask kneels over an open black backpack, pulling a closed black laptop out of it, eyes down, while the ponytailed woman in the black mask stands beside him watching him, neither looking at the camera, mid-rise buildings and the Hudson River behind them. <<<image_2>>> = the exact LAST FRAME: the same camera and scene, the man now kneeling upright holding the laptop OPEN and raised toward the camera, its black screen reading WE'RE NOT REAL in huge white block letters, his face turned up to the lens, the woman facing the camera waving at the viewer, the empty backpack on the grating. Style & Mood: Authentic breaking-news helicopter footage bridging exactly from <<<image_1>>> to <<<image_2>>>. Heavy visible film grain and fine video noise, slightly soft zoomed-broadcast look, telephoto compression, muted desaturated news grade, hazy summer light. Photorealistic, real documentary energy, no stylization, nothing posed or static. Dynamic Description: Single continuous shot, no cuts, starting exactly at <<<image_1>>> and ending exactly at <<<image_2>>>. THE CAMERA IS NEVER STILL: a long-lens news camera held on the subjects from a hovering helicopter, constantly drifting and floating with small handheld corrections, gentle sway, micro-jitter and occasional tiny bumps, the operator continuously reframing to keep the pair centered while the background buildings slide subtly behind them. No orbit required, just constant natural movement. The subjects are ALIVE the entire shot: high-altitude wind streams through the woman's ponytail and pulls loose strands across her face, both their clothes ripple and flutter, she shifts her weight from foot to foot and tucks a strand of hair as she watches him. The man slides the laptop free of the backpack, flips it open, glances at the screen, then pivots on his knee and raises it high, rotating the open screen to face the helicopter camera, holding it as steady as the wind allows, the laptop lid trembling slightly in the gusts. The woman then turns to the camera and lifts her hand into a warm natural wave, fingers relaxed, her eyes smiling above her mask, hair still moving in the wind. The laptop screen is only revealed to the camera in the second half of the shot, and once visible its white block lettering stays EXACTLY as in <<<image_2>>>, steady, legible, never scrambling. Real-time 1x speed: no slow motion, no speed ramps, no freeze frames, no frozen poses, no mannequin stillness. No other on-screen text, no captions, no logos. Static Description: The octagonal grated steel maintenance platform with low rail, the latticed antenna mast rising behind the pair, black backpack on the grating, mid-rise city blocks, piers and the Hudson River in hazy summer light beyond. Audio: Diegetic sound only, heavy helicopter rotor thump, high-altitude wind gusts buffeting the microphone, faint fabric flutter. Strictly no music, no score, no singing.
The wind is doing two jobs. “Wind streams through her ponytail and pulls loose strands across her face” animates her so she reads as a living person, and it also excuses any tiny instability in the laptop, which the eye reads as authentic handheld news footage instead of AI wobble. Find the detail that makes your realism and your excuse the same thing.

The assembly

Cut: the climb cold open (0:00 to 0:02, salvaged from the best monolith take), the flag shot (0:02 to 0:07), the laptop reveal (0:07 to 0:11.5), then the animated end card. Chyron overlay rides the first 6 seconds, Elena’s read runs across everything, a helicopter rotor bed sits underneath at about 30 percent. Her line “look at that banner” lands exactly on the cut to the flag, and “Even me.” lands on the end card. Total damage for the shots: 540 credits of failures, 135 credits of keepers. The failures were the tuition.

Recreate it with your own flag

  1. Pick a story people already know, pull real frames from the real coverage as composition references, and blur the channel graphics off them.
  2. Build one keyframe per shot with GPT Image 2, matched to the real footage’s framing, with your text baked into the still.
  3. Generate per shot: 5 seconds, 9:16, keyframe in the start-frame slot. Use a start-and-end pair for any shot where something has to physically happen.
  4. Write speed as a rate, name the grain and jitter twice, ban stillness in both languages, keep the audio diegetic.
  5. Assemble with a chyron, a generated anchor VO, and an end card in your real fonts. Then label it as AI. The reveal is what makes it shareable instead of shady.
